Erin Cooley-Gross was born and raised in southern Florida, where she earned her undergraduate degrees in early childhood education and psychology. She and her family relocated to beautiful North Carolina in the summer of 2007. She earned her Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in the summer of 2014 and has been working with children, families and individuals in a community mental health setting. Early in her career she discovered her talent for working with adults and children who have experienced trauma, and so she became a qualified specialist and rostered clinician in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

Serving children and families has always been a passion of Erin’s. During her years as a preschool teacher she recognized the need the family has for intervention and support. This drove her desire for mental health counseling, and it is her true passion. She believes in the strength of the relationship between parent and child, and their natural ability to self-regulate and achieve success. Erin guides parents and children to communicate effectively, understand their own internal motivation and to strive for stronger relationships. Erin also recognizes the impact that trauma plays on the individual and the family and can guide clients through the healing process. Erin assists clients of all ages into discovering their own ability to heal and achieve success. Erin’s overall style is one of inclusion, openness, and unconditional positive regard. Erin also enjoys bringing play into each of her sessions and believes laughter can be as healing as tears.
